One of the most important prerequisites is sufficient language proficiency that should enable you to communicate with a Canadian family. You should be fluent enough to contact the emergency services, if such need arises and be able to read labels on medication. If you have experience or education in the medical sphere, child rearing, teaching or elderly care, you will have no problem satisfying the requirements of a Canadian family. In accordance with the Canadian immigration law, eligible candidates will have the following:

• A job confirmation letter from a Canadian employer

• A written contract with the mentioned employer

• Successful completion of secondary school (Canadian equivalent)

• A minimum of six months of professional training or at least one year of full-time paid work experience (including six months of working for the same employer) during the past three years

• Sufficient knowledge of English of French

• An official work permit allowing entrance to Canada
